Working with Beer Pioneers – Pivovar Ltd at the Sheffield Tap

Established in 2003, as a specialist beer importer, Pivovar soon started to champion Real ale and other specialist beers from around the world and the UK.

We first met co-founder Jamie Hawksworth in 2008 when Pivovar were in the throes of a 2 year restoration of the derelict former Edwardian Refreshment Room of Sheffield Station – complete with in house microbrewery “Tapped Brew Co.” in the First Class Dining Room…where else!

The pub opened late in 2009 and at the time, rather than our stainless steel option, English Heritage insisted on period Mahogany shelving behind the bar to match the period restoration of the original counter (see the interesting renovation here – www.sheffieldtap.com).

Roll on to 2019 and with a Servaclean cocktail station installed for Pivovar at the Pavement Vaults in York, the good old fashioned mahogany bar shelving at the Sheffield Tap was now home to a few families of bar flies! Luckily Jamie still had our original plans to hand and after a recap site visit, a small tweak here and there to the layout, we installed a stainless steel bar system under the period featured existing counter.

Practically speaking, the Sheffield Tap project was a prime example of how our installers, working with an organised contracting team, can minimise the downtime of any bar. The venue closed at 10pm on the Sunday evening and reopened its doors on 3pm on Monday, taking less than 18 hours to complete the full works.

Pivovar have recently joined forces with Thornbridge Brewery to create several new venues.  The Market Cat in York, The Bankers Cat in Leeds and The Colmore in Birmingham are all beautifully refurbished with traditional finishes, sympathetic with each buildings individual history and heritage and all serving Craft brewed ale and premium imported Czech beer hand in hand – And all have a good ‘new fashioned’ Servaclean Stainless Steel Bar System behind the bar…
