Meet our Designer, Katie

Katie has been with us for a year now, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the team. In this interview, we chat with her about what it’s like working at Servaclean, how her first year as a graduate designer has shaped her career, and what inspires her in the world of bar design.

How have you found your first year at Servaclean?

My first year at Servaclean has been amazing! One filled with challenges and triumphs. Being a fresh graduate out of university and starting with little knowledge of the industry and all that came with it, has been such a journey! My team and mentors at Servaclean have been so supportive, encouraging and given me such a confidence boost in my abilities within CAD design.

I have always looked forward to coming into the office and learnt more than I could have ever imagined I’d be able to. The team have pushed me to always learn and do better which is something I have enjoyed, it has built strong foundations for me to excel in this department.

What is the best part of the role?

The best part of my role is seeing how far my drawings have come and how much more confident I am from where I first started. Seeing the progress each day and knowing more about the role, it has enabled me to push myself and dive into different aspects of other roles which I have definitely enjoyed. For example, learning more about the product design of a Servaclean Bar System and going on site visits to help our project manager with surveys has shown me different routes I could take my career.

What are you looking forward to achieving in the next year within the business?

I am looking forward to achieving greater responsibilities in the next year at Servaclean. I have enjoyed my journey so far because of how many other aspects of the business I have been exposed to and this is something I hope can continue in the next year and continue learning as much as possible.

What are your outside work interests?

My outside work interests are spending time being social, going to music festivals/ concerts, going to markets/ Charity shopping or going for lovely long walks around the Yorkshire Dales and a nice coffee afterwards. Basically anything but sitting still!

One thing we wouldn’t know about you

One thing you don’t know about me is I love to make hand drawn digital prints. I’ve always been creative, and this is something I do in my spare time, coming up with designs, colour schemes and drawing with my iPad is probably one of my favourite hobbies. It’s something I really enjoy doing with my free time, so I started taking requests for friends and family for them to have up in their own home!
